Rating: 4/5

Pros:

  • Really cool lighting effect
  • Vibrant and colourful
  • Decent sound quality
  • Many audio inputs

Cons:

  • No built in battery
  • Annoying Bluetooth ‘connect’ and ‘power on’ noises

Conclusion:  The 1 by One Magic Plasma Bluetooth speaker is an excellent novelty product and would make a great gift. The audio quality is pretty good, considering the price, and its plasma light show is really cool. I just wish it had a built in battery.

Panasonic RPHJE120 In-Ear Headphones Review

40

Rating: 4/5

Pros:

  • Excellent audio range with deep bass and clear highs
  • Great surrounding sound isolation
  • Very comfortable and streamlined fit

Cons:

  • Thin wire is prone to tangles
  • No volume or mic
  • Prone to wire-slap noise

Summary:  The Panasonic RPHJE120 series are by far the best sub-$10 headphones I have ever used. They have a surprisingly balanced audio range, with decent bass and clear highs. In a blind test, it would be difficult to distinguish these from other more expensive headphones. If you want a pair of cheap in-ear headphones these are definitely a good choice.

iLuv Mobitour ISP-202 Bluetooth Speaker Review

20

Rating: 2/5

Pros:

  • Connected and paired easily

Cons:

  • Their sound is rather ‘hollow’
  • Lacking clarity, bass and treble
  • Iffy build quality

Summary:  As far as Bluetooth speakers go, there are far better options in the price range. While they did wirelessly play music, these speakers sound very cheap and overall do not offer much more than you would get if you used the speakers built into your phone. I’d advise looking elsewhere if sound quality and budget prices are your concern.

Car Bluetooth Adapter BC10

35

Rating: 3.5/5

Pros:

  • Surprisingly good media audio quality
  • Streamlined and compact design
  • Minimal ground loop feedback (background hum)
  • Auto-connect with previously paired devices works flawlessly

Cons:

  • AUX cable is non-replaceable
  • Instructions are poorly translated
  • Mic placement makes phone calls difficult to hear

Summary:  This generic Bluetooth adapter does shockingly well in the music quality department and the awesome design eliminates the piles of wires that plague other systems. However, the built-in AUX cable keeps me from recommending it without hesitation.

Author’s note: This is a generic bluetooth car stereo sold under a number of different brand names: Patec Car Bluetooth Adapter, VicTsing Bluetooth Adapter, iBolt Musicplay & Charge and others.

Pros:

  • Extremely comfortable
  • Very balanced sound
  • Super build quality
  • Gorgeous design

Cons:

  • Bass is a bit lacking on lower power devices
  • Not as good external noise isolation as higher models
  • Permanently attached cord

Summary:  The Audio Technica ATH-M30x headphones has a very balanced tonal range and is excellent for live monitoring during video recording, but will leave some listeners bass-hungry on their default settings. These headphones represent one of the best sound-for-price ratios at the time of review.

Inateck BTSP-10 Plus Bluetooth Speaker

35

Rating: 3.5/5

Pros:

  • Very loud
  • Low distortion
  • Surprisingly balanced sound

Cons:

  • Not enough bass
  • Some genres don’t sound as good as others

Summary: The Inateck BTSP-10 Plus almost made me believe in portable bluetooth speakers. There’s so many things that are good about this speaker it almost hits the mark of the perfect balance of price and quality. However it isn’t exactly there yet: unfortunately it’s missing a skip track button and the bass occasionally leaves me underwhelmed.
