1byone Bluetooth Sport Headphones Review

Categories Headphones and Speakers

Rating: 4/5

What I Like:

  • Fantastic overall audio quality with deep bass, balanced mids and clear highs
  • Comfortable to wear for longer listening sessions
  • Sturdy feel and good build quality
  • Goes quite loud without distortion
  • Decent battery life

What I Don’t Like:

  • Voice confirmations are very loud and do not adjust with headset volume
  • Buttons are positioned in such a way that using them can pull the headphones out of your ears
  • Bit of background hum in quiet music

Summary:  The 1byone Bluetooth Sport Headphones have very good audio quality, with a pleasing balance of lows, mids and highs. There is plenty of bass that maintains separation from the treble and results in warm, rich music. Devices with APT-x see the best quality, but performance is fine with devices that do not support the codec. As far as sport headphones go, these are comfortable and have very good audio, but some little design quirks keep them from being perfect.

Build Quality & Appearance

In terms of build quality, these headphones feel pretty good. The headphones are solid and the cord feels secure. There isn’t much flex when inserting them into my ears and the buttons all feel fine. They do stick out of my ears a lot, so they’re not the most stylish headphones ever, but the comfort makes up for it. They do block out a lot of external noise too, and I notice that these headphones have a lot less whistle from wind when riding my bike than other Bluetooth headphones I own. This is a huge win, but it is imperative to be more attentive to the surroundings when cycling because of how much noise they block out.

Audio Quality

In terms of audio quality, these headphones sound very good. Compared to other Bluetooth headphones I’ve tested recently, these are among the best, with a rich blend of lows, mids and highs. There is a little bit of background hiss when the headphones are playing quiet music, but that is quickly overshadowed by the clarity of both bass and treble. The headphones are great for all genres I’ve tested including technical rock, metal, pop, and electronic. Devices with APT-x benefit most from the dynamic range. On non APT-x devices I noticed a little bit of compression, but overall it was still pretty good.

Battery Life

Battery life seems good so far. It’s hard to comment on battery life after only a week of use, but  I work out about an hour a day and they haven’t asked me to charge them yet. Typically I expect to charge Bluetooth headphones about twice a week, so this is above average. These headphones will also show their battery life on some iOS and Android devices.

Comfort

In terms of comfort these headphones feel decent to me. Because the controls and battery is on the cable, the weight is less on the ears. The headphones stick out quite a bit but stay in the my ears pretty well. The buttons are located on the cable and tugging on the buttons will cause the headphones to fall out. It makes it harder to change tracks while exercising and detracts from the immersion. It’s not the end of the world, though, just a little design thing that could be a bit better.

Connectivity & Signal

There were no issues connecting and pairing these headphones with multiple devices. During use, signal was strong and clear.

Other Notes

The voice confirmations for connected and pairing are nice to have, but they’re far too loud for me and turning down the volume on the headphones does not seem to change the volume of the voice.

Conclusion

Overall, I really like these headphones. Even with a few little design quirks, the audio quality is rich and they are quite comfortable. There is a bit of background hiss though, and that is the reason they get a lower rating than other headphones I have tested with similar build, features and audio quality.
